THE DARK MAN, who once went by the name DAVID STRACHAN, inhabits an underworld. He shuns society. He lives in the basements of abandoned buildings, and sometimes even down in sewer tunnels. He gravitates always to the shadows. He is by nature a man of the night.
THE DARK MAN’s background is military, but an incident in his past saw him cashiered from service. Living in the south of France, STRACHAN and his girlfriend ASTRID stumble across a horrific ritual being performed by a sinister group of men, THE SHADOWMASTERS, who brutally murder ASTRID. Vowing revenge, STRACHAN finds himself befriended by an OLD MAN, an ancient alchemist, who also has an interest in opposing THE SHADOWMASTERS. STRACHAN becomes THE DARK MAN as his thirst for revenge consumes him.
THE DARK MAN has since been recruited to play a part in a cataclysmic struggle between good and evil. His continuing mission is to protect a forgotten system of magic, one of potentially great benefit to all mankind. In particular, he is to seek out certain “hallows,” objects that will help lead him to a very special artefact, a GOLDEN CUP. This cup is innocuous enough to look at, but as the centrepiece of a certain ceremony it can channel limitless power and energy to spread love and peace and goodness, and elevate the human condition.
THE DARK MAN is guided – and sometimes aided – by a loose grouping of Alchemists, the Agents of Light and Love, and has been granted a limited training in their craft.
Opposed to THE DARK MAN, and also seeking to find the GOLDEN CUP of power are the sinister and corrupt SHADOWMASTERS. THE SHADOWMASTERS would use the cup for selfish purposes. A misuse of its gifts would spread war, pestilence, famine, misery throughout the world.
THE DARK MAN operates where the Agents of Light and Love fear to tread – in the darkness, and in the decrepit and violent places where decay and misery have already begun to take hold. His bearing is melancholy and world-weary, but he has a genuine desire to help the poor people of the districts of the city he inhabits. That desire to help, his hatred of The Shadowmasters, and his thirst for revenge are what keep him going.

SEASON ONE
1. The Dark Fire of Doom
The Dark Man learns of his calling and we he finds himself in The City. The Old Man tells him he must search beneath The City to find the magic fire, an evil portal used by demonic energies. The Dark Man must find a way to close the portal.
2. Destiny In The Dark
The Dark Man walks with the mysterious Old Man in the city. He learns more about his destiny, and why he must do what he's been called to do. He learns of the fight between the Light and the Dark that must only end one way if humanity is not to become enslaved.
3. The Dark Never Hides
The Dark Man dreams of his past - and events in his life take on new meaning as he comes to understand the desperate struggle against the Shadowmasters and the part he must play in it.
4. Face In The Dark Mirror
The Dark Man searches in a terrible place which most people would fear to enter for the Dark Mirror. The Dark Mirror can tell True Names. But can The Dark Man avoid the Biting Walls wand find the answer that he seeks?
5. Fear In The Dark
The Dark Man enlists the help of a girl to find the mystical Rod of Iron, which can control the future. But the Shadowmasters are also aware of the Rod of Iron and seek it for themselves.
6. Escape From The Dark
The Dark Man meets with a girl who has come to bring him a note with information vital to The Light. But the girl is being followed and she needs help. The Dark Man must act quickly to keep her safe.
7. The Dark Dreams of Hell
The Dark Man sleeps and in his sleep he is visited by terrible dreams. In these dreams he sees visions of what the world might be like if the Shadowmasters are not defeated and The Dark gains dominion over the planet.
8. The Dark Side of Magic
The Dark Man must once again pit his powers against the evil forces of the Shadow Masters.
9. Danger In The Dark
A girl with special supernatural abilities is sought by the Shadowmasters. They have put demons, who look like men, on the streets to find her. Somehow, The Dark Man must get the girl to safety.
10. The Shadow In The Dark
The Dark Man learns that the Shadowmasters have Astrid, the girl he loved and who was murdered by them. They clam to have mastered life and death. But is this just a trap?
SEASON TWO
11. The Dark Waters of Time
The Dark Man must take a young woman to the Pool of Magic Water where she can see into the past. If he can get her there safely, she can tell him where the Golden Cup was last hidden.
12. The Dark Glass
The Dark Glass can help The Dark Man see the Golden Cup. But The Dark Man must take the Dark Glass from the Shadow Masters in order to use it His quest takes him to the Smart Part of The City.
13. The Dark Machine
The Shadow Masters have called a machine from the Realm of Screams. The machine can do much harm. The Dark Man must find the machine before the Shadow Masters can use it.
14. The Dark Words
In The Dark Words the Dark Man must once again pit his powers against the evil forces of the Shadow Masters. A document has been found: it has magical powers. In the forest, the Dark Man meets a boy. Can he help find the document?
15. The Dark Candle
A girl needs help. She is ill, but the Dark Candle can give her the health she needs. Can the Dark Man find it?
16. Dying For The Dark
The Dark Man must help a girl who is bleeding. Then he finds out why she is hurt – and he meets those who hurt her.
17. Killer In The Dark
The Dark Man watches a dark, shadowy killer. A living shadow. The Dark Man must find out what it is and stop it, before more people are killed.
18. The Day Is Dark
The Dark Man must help a girl he has met before. She is held by the Shadow Masters, in a place where day has become night. When he finds her, the Dark Man discovers that the darkness is alive!
19. The Dark River
The Dark Man must seek the gold coins. The Old Man said they will help him in his search for the Golden Cup. As Josie sleeps, she shows Dark Man the way to the river. The savage current of the water fights him and ghostly creatures grab at him beneath the water. Can the Dark Man defeat the dark river and recover the coins?
20. The Bridge of Dark Tears
A black crumbling bridge is guarded by a fire-breathing demon. The bridge is invisible to most, but Josie can see things others cannot. She guides the Dark Man to the bridge. They see children being drawn across it. They are slaves to the shadow masters. Can Dark Man fight this terrible evil and destroy the bridge of dark tears?
SEASON THREE
21. The Past Is Dark
In "The Past is Dark", a memory comes to the Dark Man. It is a painful memory, of a time before the Shadow Masters. The Dark Man remembers Astrid - the girl he loved - and the night in the forest when the Shadow Masters took her from him. Now, it is Dark Man's duty to stop the Shadow Masters, but can he forget Astrid?
22. Playing The Dark Game
The Dark Man is sent to a ruined old mansion far outside the city. He is to rescue two children who have a mystical power when they are together. But in the mansion, his destiny is controlled by the fall of the dice, as the Old Man and a Shadow Master play a deadly board game where the wrong turn can spell death for the Dark Man and the two children.
23. The Dark Music
A piano is playing. The music is fast and chilling, and it never stops. It's driving Angela mad. The music is coming from a tall, rotten building in the bad part of the city. The Dark Man is drawn towards the music. As he climbs the stairs he sees children shuffling towards the music, their eyes staring. Can Dark Man defeat the terrible dark that lives inside the piano?
24. The Dark Garden
The Dark Man has been captured by the Shadow Masters. He hangs from a tree in a mysterious garden, his power drained. There is nothing he can do to break free. But in the moonlight, something moves. It is Claire. She has the power to turn moonlight into sunshine and bring the garden to life. But are her powers strong enough to defeat the evil of the shadow masters?
25. Fire In The Dark Woods
The Shadow Masters have found the family they seek. They send demons to kill the boy, his mum and his dad. Can the Dark Man save them from the fire?
26. The Dark Scroll
A girl is very sick. A magic scroll can save her. The Dark Man must find this scroll or the girl will die. But the scroll is guarded by a water demon.
27. The Dark Trap
The Dark Man seeks a magic stone. The stone will give him great power. The Dark Man will need this power in his fight against the Shadow Masters and their demons.
28. The Demon In The Dark
There is a demon in the city. A girl comes to the Dark Man. She can help him beat the demon. He must do as she says.
29. The Dark Realm Of Screams
The Shadow Masters have opened a door to the Realm of Screams. The Dark Man must close this door. Who will help him?
30. Change In The Dark
The Dark Man and the girl must go to the Black Water. The girl can take power from the water. Will this power change the girl?
